How's your holiday? I hope everyone had fun.

Some of us went for internship during last 4 months holiday. Some kerja, some cuti-cuti sakan and some... jadi boss di rumah. And there are few that I knew active with church activities. Can't wait to hear your stories

There will be a mass at 12 pm at FM House, Gelugor.

Those yang mau ikut and harus ikut (hahahaha) gather di gate Sungai 2 by 11am.

After the mass, there will be a fellowship at FM House.

Menurut Exco Outreach, saudara Esteranza Victor Junior, aktiviti ini adalah sebenarnya untuk para juniors because we want to show you where and waht is FM House - our second home and also place for us to conduct some activities.

So please dear juniors, do come ^^

Hello!!!!

How's your holiday CUS-ers???

How's Christmas? Mine was extra fun and I hope yours too. Sorry for the long silence. Been very busy with final exam last semester and di kampung pula tak ada internet hahahaha..

Anyway, it's 2011 now, permulaan tahun yang baru dan juga semester yang baru. Anyone of you ada buat resolusi tahun baru ? ^^ I bet almost all of reading this ada buat new year's resolution. I usually make mine during my birthday hehehhe

Okay...

Now it's 2nd semester of this year's academic term. Bila masuk saja 2nd semester, akan adalah annual dinner CUS ^^

This year is no exception.

This year, we're going to have our Annual Dinner at Paradise Sandy Beach Resort, Penang.

The details are as follows :

Date : March 5th 2011

Time : 8pm till 11pm

Venue : Paradise sandy Beach Resort

Theme : Metamorphosis. A night to transform.

Price :RM50 per person (including transport).

For those who couldn't pay the full amount, do not worry. You can pay RM 30 deposit dulu which will be collected by end of this month ^^

Don't worry too much about the theme. You can be and wear anything you want, transform jadi the other side of you or jadi orang lain. Power rangers, Batman or Sailormoon also can... if you dare ^^

What We Did Last Friday

Seperti yang semua tahu, last Friday kita tak ada usual gathering di BT 150. We went to FM House to do our activity. We did Lectio Divina with Fr Dominic. But he didn't stay for the steamboat -_-

Anyway, Marcella and Lia conducted the session. It went well and before that we did rosary prayer. After prayer, ada steamboat session with Joe (chef cook for the night) and we have movie watching. we watched The Invention of Lying yang membawa banyak hidden message. And, selepas itu, zzzzzz.... ^^

What is PCC Camp?

PCC Camp adalah a council Level gathering a.k.a Intercampus gathering yang melibatkan universiti seperti UUM, USM, UNITAR, UPSI, AIMST, ACMS, UTP. Pendek kata, all northern campuses (quote Marcella - FB Notes)

Di mana, bila camp ini?

Bertemakan F.U.N outreach ( Faith Unite Nation ), camp ini akan berlangsung dari 10 - 13 Sept 2010 ( Friday till Monday @ 4 days 3 nights ) bertempat di Infant Jesus, Barre Centre, Cameron Highlands.

Dan yuran yang perlu di bayar ialah RM 95 (boleh bayar ansuran). Yuran tersebut adalah untuk t-shirt PCC yang lawa, makanan dan accomodation.

Okay guys and girls, mark the date in ur calendar and do join us. Kalau boleh, yang sudah beli tiket balik tu, tak payah balik pun tak apa hahahaha. Ok, sekarang, masa untuk gambar-gambar... enjoy ^^

What We've Done So Far

This is what we did last week. bermalam di FM House dan kemudian, hari Ahad, kami menjadi peniaga berjaya ^^

Masa di FM house, we played games like 10 cent and silent killer. We also watched concert, to be precise, The Dream Concert, menyanyi2dan bersembang-sembang sambil memasak. It was sooooo fun ^^

Best thing was, our PCC members were also there so, double the fun. Walaupun diorg lebih banyak menghabiskan masa menyanyi, keluar dengan Anne dan makan (hahahaha), but having them there with us adalah best ^^

Being away from family and close friends you've known so long sometime makes you feel lonely. I'm sure it gets harder when you're having problems, facing dilemmas or ... when need someone to talk to.

Our community bukan saja ditubuhkan untuk mengingatkan kita tentang keimanan (our faith) tetapi juga untuk kita sama-sama berkongsi what ever we have. Yang baik, yang buruk... we share and we learn from each other.

CUS is a family. We are brothers and sisters in Christ.

This coming Friday, we'll going to have our gathering as usual at BT 150, from 12.30pm till about 3pm. Our theme Friday is "Friends Are Quiet Angels".

We also going to have Rosary Prayer so please bring your rosary ^^

Something to share on this exam season..

Shalom.. How has everyone prepare for the coming exam? Well, honestly I haven't prepared much but here's something that could be helpful for all of you in terms of preparation besides revising and studying.

A friend of mine had been telling me that he had been praying to St Jude for favour and his prayers were granted. Long before, a teacher of mine, too had been praying to St Jude (though she is not Catholic) and Mother Mary, asking for more children, and then her prayers were answered. Besides studying religiously, I guess we have to pray religiously too. Ask and you shall receive, as the Bible says.

So here, I include a prayer to St Jude which will work wonders to you, if you only put your faith and pray persistently. ;)

This is one of the many prayers to St Jude, and this is specifically for a special favour:

For a Special Favor

O glorious Apostle St. Jude, true relative of Jesus and Mary, I salute you through the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Through this Heart, I praise and thank God for all the graces He has bestowed upon you. Humbly prostrate before you, I implore you through this Heart to look down upon me with compassion. Despise not my poor prayer and let not my trust be in vain. To you has been assigned the privilege of aiding mankind in the most desperate cases. Outreach-ing the Children at St Joseph Home..

6th March 2010...

11 of the CUS members, namely Stephanie, Meredith, Juslin, Elizabeth, Marcela, Esteranza, Natalia, Duke, Mellisa, Man Lee, Maureen along with Anne Beatrice, our Campus Minister,- arrived at St Joseph Children Home, located at Upper Penang road, at around 1.45 pm.

It was a sunny afternoon, hot and greasy, but that did not bother us that much as what excites us more was the activities that are going to be done!

The children gave us a warm welcome upon arrival, and a number of them were the students of one of our CUS member, Mellisa, as she was doing her practical at a high school in Penang at the moment. Imagine the students' happy faces when their teacher came to play with them, instead of teaching them formally at school!

We spent our time sing-along and playing games with them, and Marcela was the MC of the day! Juslin, on the other hand, was the guitarist. We sang a number of songs with them before proceeding with the activities planned for them. ;)

We had three activities with them, namely:
1) Origami
2) Bola beracun
3) Teka aksi kawan
It was fun spending time with the energetic kids.

Well, I guess words won't convince enough as pictures could so here I present all of you with the pictures we had taken during our memorable visit!! :')

A NIGHT IN PARADISE..

Every year, the Catholic Undergraduate Society of USM Minden will hold an annual dinner to bid farewell to the seniors and also for the students from different campuses to gather together. For this year (2010) CUS will hold this annual dinner again, and it falls on the 27th of March 2010. Make yourself free that night and prepare yourself for this grand event. For this year's CUS Nite, the theme will be... TA DAA~!

"A Night in Paradise"

Do dress according to the theme so that it will be merrier and fun. No restriction to colour, and use your creativity to attend this event. Below are the information about this event:

Wrapping up the first semester of 09/10 with CUS

Shalom everyone.. This post is created just to reminisce the good times we had for our CUS activities during the first semester of 09/10 session. Let's take a look what we had done so far throughout the semester.. ;)

1) CUS weekly gathering every Friday of the week. ;)

2) A trip to Pantai Kerachut

3) Carwash at Immaculate Conception Church.. ;)

4) Participated in the ICG camp at Majodi Centre, Plentong, Johor.

5) Exam Mass with Father Dominic on 16th October 2009.

6) Last but not least, for wrapping up the semester, gathering at FM house with Fr Dominic before the semester break.

There were some other activities that were going on which were not captured on camera, now let's hope the new semester brings fresh hope and new faces to our community. ;)

CUS Camp Next Year!!

CUS will be having a CUS camp on the 15th to 17th January 2010, so we are inviting all of you to join this camp to experience something wonderful. The theme of the camp is "Walk the Talk" and several professional speakers will be invited to give each one of you the input on what you should know about your life, and our lives as community. ;)

The fee is RM50, and the accommodation is yet to be determined (either at Stella Maris or College General, y'all).

Please do not hesitate to join this camp as this is once in a lifetime opportunity -yes, I am not exaggerating- and it is a beneficial activity to fill in your first few weeks of the new semester, right? On another note, let me include a brief description of last Friday's exam Mass, which was held at on 16th October 2009. The Mass was celebrated by Father Dominic, and there were 35 people (the best attendance so far) participating in the Mass. :)

After the Mass, the announcement about CUS Camp for January next year was made. At the same time, Fr Dominic was promoting two books,

1) God's Word for Each Day (2010), price RM20. You can purchase it at the Our Lady of Sorrows' Church after the Sunset or Sunday Mass.

2) 2010 Daily Gospel, can be purchased at RM10 at OLS church too.

More About Faith and Breakthrough with bro Ashley..

This week, CUS invited bro Ashley to give us a talk on "Faith and Breakthrough" and there were many members who turned up. :) Total of people present? 21, hooray! It was the best so far though still less compared to the 24th July gathering (total of 24 people present), but this is an improvement compared to the other attendance lately after the midsemester holiday.

Brother Ashley started his talk with a question, "What is faith to you?" After listening to some of the feedback from the CUS members, brother Ashley told us what faith is, from his conclusion of several studies, where faith is about putting our trust in God, and taking a risk at the same time. Why is it a risk? It is because we do not have any concrete proof about it, and yet we put our full trust in God.

Then, he also stressed about what faith is NOT:

1) Knowledge (or intellectual assent or something that you subscribe to) of the existence of God. (James 2:19)
2) Professing Jesus Christ as Lord and believing that that is enough. This is called the faith alone principle.

Then, he mentioned about what faith is to a Catholic with the quote from the Bible:

1) Jesus said "If anyone would come after me, he must DENY himself, TAKE up his cross and FOLLOW me" (Matt. 16:24)
2) According to St Peter: "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. (Acts. 2:38)
3) Chronology would be "Believe (Mk. 16:16), repent (Acts. 2:38), and be baptized.
(He mentioned again it is not appropriate to be baptized first and then believe later. Remember Jesus's quote about happy are those who haven't seen and yet believed? Yes, that's why it is better to believe before you be baptized.

Then, he showed us a short video about the inspiring story of Nick Vujicic, a man born without limbs yet he could make the best out of himself and inspired people from around the world though being physically disabled. Thus, brother Ashley conclude how great the power of faith is by stating the quote from the Bible:

"If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you."
Matthew 17:20

Besides, brother Ashley asked us to pray with our full trust in God when we are really in need of something, where we put our full trust in God in our heart and practice it with our lips by saying out our prayer to show that we really mean it, and thus, your need and desire will be fulfilled.

Then, we listened to a song "When you believe" by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston and tried to reflect our faith in Him through this song.

Finally, there were question and answer (Q & A) session, and there was this question about suffering which was asked by Sophie Weisser to brother Ashley about why her friend who had lost her father, and now she lost her mother, had to endure so much suffering, one after another?

Thus, brother Ashley answered that the suffering is the Cross, and God possibly had a plan for her, and all she has to do is to put her trust in God, carry her cross and follow Him.

The talk ended with question and answer session.

Announcement this week:

1) EXAM MASS
The CUS exam Mass will be held at 16th October 2009 and not on 23rd October, and all are invited to come. The time will be at 1pm, so please be punctual.

2) CUS CAMP
The CUS camp will be held from 15th to 16th January 2010, all CUS members are welcome. The venue of the camp will be either at Stella Maris or College General and has yet to be determined.

3) HELP THE TYPHOON VICTIMS IN THE PHILLIPINES
Sarah Lee is encouraging all CUS members to help the typhoon victim in the Phillipines and they basically need clothes, blanket, mosquito nets, sleeping mats, cooking utensils, plates, spoons, forks, cups, medic for flu, cough, cold, diarrhea, antibacterial, antifungal, bandage, toothpaste, soap, toothbrush, laundry soap, food, and water. You can donate these things or whatever things that you feel suitable. Label them with "TO SISTER LILY FOR THE TYPHOON VICTIMS" and leave them at the Our Lady of Sorrows Church secretariat. CUS's Car Wash

Today, the Catholic Undergraduate Society had a car wash activity done at the
Immaculate Conception church.This car wash was done mainly to raise fund for the CUS's participation in the upcoming ICG camp.

The project director was Chai Cheng Yee. There were about 16 people who participated in this activity. The bus started off to the IC church at about 7.10 in the morning, and arrived at the church at around 20 minutes later.

We were really putting on our efforts to lure customers into accepting our car-washing services and we really put in our efforts while washing the cars though time were limited. It was a challenge. But anyway, it was a good chance for the CUS members to experience teamwork among ourselves. Some were having fun though doing the tiring job. It was a blessing that the weather was humid, not raining but it wasn't that hot either. It was just nice for us to wash the cars.

The parish office and the parishioners' generosity towards our society will always be remembered. :') God bless you all~!

Finally, we went back to USM during the noon, around 12 something, nearly 1 am, and we hope the best for CUS activities in the future. Hopefully, this experience will also teach us CUS members to improve our car-washing skills next time! ;)

This Friday (4th September 2009), the CUS weekly gathering will be held at BT150 at Block G27, also known as DKU building, starting from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm. All are invited to join this activity to strengthen our faith among the CUS families. This week's theme is Trial and Courage, and the activity this Friday will be conducted by the St Paul and Santo Maria's family. We are going to watch a movie titled "Fireproof" for this week.

A poster of the movie. Basically, this American Christian drama film is about the trials faced by a married couple and how they face it with courage. The film received the Best Feature Film award at the San Antonio Christian Film Festival. If you want to know the rest of the story, do come to the gathering this Friday! ;)

Conquering Kerachut Beach on Midsem Break..

Last Friday (21st August 2009), during the midsemester break, the Catholic Undergraduate Society was hosting an outing to Kerachut Beach. The project director was Juslin Mali. This outing consisted of hiking, picnic and barbecue. The fee was only RM10 perperson, including the transportation and the food. That was a good bargain most of us could ask for.

Our bus started off as early as 8 in the morning. We arrived around 9 am at the Penang National Park main gate. We were full of energy, in our quest to conquer the Kerachut beach.

After we finished doing our activities there (eating, playing, taking pictures, and exploring, hehe) we ride on a boat to get back to the Penang National Park main gate.

It was a nice experience as the boat driver kept explaining to us the significance of the natural heritage while on the way to our destination. Thanks to the nice weather too, the boat ride was a fun experience.

Peace and Salvation with CUS..

For this week, as usual, CUS had organised its weekly gathering at BT 150, at the DKU block.

The theme for this week's gathering was 'Peace and Salvation'.

The programme started with an opening prayer led by Marcela. Then, a talk was conducted by Marcela, on the 'religious clock'.

After the talk, all the audience who were present were asked to check under their seats whether there is any small piece of paper.

Three CUS members, namely Clevellen, Helen and Maureen were the chosen three 'lucky' persons to have the piece of paper pasted under their seats. They were asked to choose to do something among the three options given, 1) sing, 2) act and 3) sharing about their stories. But there's a catch. All these three choices must be related to the theme 'Peace'.

One of the lucky ones, Clevellen, was thinking of doing the option 1, which was singing.

Yeah, some of us really paid attention.. ;)

This is a scene during the briefing of the last activity, which is a game related to trust and understanding. The CUS members were required to sit in their own groups, in a row. The person who sat behind his or her friend must draw something according to a given image and passed the image around through the sense of touch.
Sounds easy, but none of us got it right.

After the game session, we have the action song session. Stephanie and Melody were asked to lead the action song session.

Finally, we came to the end of the programme, with a closing prayer led by Arthur.

Hey geng..this post is about our CUS's Night which was held on 28 Mac 2009. The theme for that nite was Masquerade (alaa kunun topeng la tek..)..So, all participant have to wear their own mask that nite..CUS's dinner was organised for the seniors before their will graduate this october and most important was to appreciate the ex-board of CUS 08/09..Our VIP for that nite was Fr.Dominic and we also invited our guests from USM (sg.nibong) and other Christian groups in USM..Here are the pictures during the dinner..Sorry ha sikit ja gambar nii..

PCCG Camp 2009

PCCG or Penang Coordinate Council Gathering was conducted last 23-26 Jan in General College, Penang... Most of the participant were from USM(minden), USM(sg.nibong), UNIMAP,UTP and other universities.. We learned a lot during this camp about growing our faith with HIM, sharing with our cell groups and others. We also got to know lots of friends during this camp..There were so much fun activities such as Treasure Hunt which was conducted by USM(minden), praise and worships, acting, ice- breaking and so on. It would be more fun if there was a jungle tracking but unfortunately it was cancelled due to its bad weather(kunun...haha)..Yeah, we had so much fun and excitement tru this camp and we hope more outdoor activities to be added for the next camp(bolehkann.. :-) ).. Lastly, we thanks Jude as a PCC's president and the committee for their hardwoking effort througout this camp..one more..thx to Joana too..Red Indian group tu..(shabuyaaaa!!! sempatt..haha)...GOD BLESS..

CUS Camp 2009

Hey friends, CUS camp was conducted from 09-11th Jan last weekend in College General, Penang..haha..(skemanya). it was an excitement and full with experience for those who joined this camp. For my point of view, im enjoying this camp tho im not too serious during the taize prayer (haha..honest nihh..). The first thing that hpn to me and athur was we were stucked outsd and couldnt get into our rum (blum mandi g tuu..)..haha..

D first thing is we also builed our cell group during the activities...we have so much indoor and outdoor activities such as sharing amongs the groups, beaching(ahah..sesat ayat ni), hide and seek and others..These are the pictures shown our activities during the camp..

Lastly, everyone seemed very satisfied with d programme.. sure got some problems occurd, there are no perfect things mah.. hehe.. but as long as everyone happy n got something from it.. its already a success for us... tahniah la pada duke as d president and for d committee too.. hehe..
